1 in 3 Australians will get shingles in their lifetime, and those aged 50 and over are more at risk of developing it at any time, disrupting their life — but how do we communicate this unpredictability to a sector of the population who don’t think it’ll disrupt their life that much?

We took to social media and lifestyle publications to get the message out that shingles can disrupt the moments you treasure the most when you’re in the prime of your life — getting them to take action with their health by booking a consult with a GP to find out what they can do to prevent it.

‘KnowShingles’ is a well-designed and brilliantly executed public health campaign that delivered some great results. The judges were impressed by the level of depth the entry had, and thought the campaign was strongly executed to the content and channels that would work. The segmentation, messages and use of personas were all excellent, and the metrics comprehensive with tangible and impressive outcomes. A powerful and attention-grabbing submission that demonstrated a change in behaviour.
